A model minus the airs, Adwoa Aboah’s unassuming voice belies the force of nature that she is. “Born sad,” Adwoa spent her teen years and her early 20s using drugs (Special K was her drug of choice) in order to cut herself off from her anxiety. Rehab helped Adwoa start feeling again and a relapse lead to a resurrection. Slowly but surely, Adwoa is bringing to life her “baby” -- that is, Gurls Talk, which will give young girls a safe space to get super real about mental health, addiction, eating disorders, and all of the other issues that Adwoa herself has confronted. Now that’s she found her life’s purpose, Adwoa can state, “I can't be anyone else. I might not love myself all of the time, but I'm all-right… I’m pretty cool."
