From studying law in Malaysia to recording her new hit "Live Your Life" with Pharrell Williams, Yuna has come a long way in pursuit of her passion for music. However, when confronted with her newfound pop notoriety, she remains steadfast to her Muslim roots, always wearing one of her electric and traditional headscarves. Yuna admits, "I'm afraid of fame. I don't want to be out there, out there," and she holds tight to the ideal that when you are "an artist, the most important thing is to be yourself." Brave enough to follow her heart, Yuna dropped a career as a lawyer to pursue her craft, in hopes of bringing joy to others. MySpace was how she garnered her initial following and eventually got her signed to Indie - Pop and then FADER Label. Listening to Yuna's self-titled debut album of understated, soulful and honest songs is exemplary of how humble and authentic she is. Currently living in LA, Yuna said that she is happy to be in the U.S. because she can be anonymous again, but with yesterday's release of the remix of "Live Your Life" with Theophilus London, incognito may not last in the west.
