October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and in our new What’s Underneath episode, we are honored to share with you vintage connoisseur, beach bum, mother, and breast cancer survivor Pamela Melet. She’s the co-founder of Melet Mercantile, which is heaven on earth for anyone who values clothing, jewelry, and home items with a story. Pamela moves easily between this world and the spiritual one and was hesitant to do What’s Underneath while mercury was in retrograde. Thankfully, for us, she let her intuition guide her, and she saw the opportunity to do What’s Underneath as a ceremony to start the process of saying goodbye to her pre-cancer self, including her long, sun-salted blond hair. “I felt confident and wonderful in that body,” Pamela explained. “Chemo made me instantly feel a 100 years old.” With her life-guides-you-you-don’t-guide-it essence, which is mirrored by her earthy jewelry and hippie-commune layers, Pamela views her struggles as part of her journey, and she is an immense inspiration to us for that: “I'm not afraid of dying, but I want to do more. I love my daughter, Sunny, so much. I know she's going to do amazing things, and I want to see them. I’m in my new body now, and my reward is that I’m alive.”
