Last month, we began our foray of expanding What's Underneath to all corners of the earth by taking the project to Los Angeles. We brought the stool, found a beautiful new wall (due to the amazingly gracious Daniela London of Choose Love), and now we’re ready to share with you the empowering stories that we documented.
The first to share their truth in our new city is 25-year-old Caitlin J. Stasey, an Australian actress in Hollywood who has harnessed her anger against the systematic sexism of the film and television industries into a force of uncensored activism. Acting since she was 13, Caitlin’s journey exposes an industry where women have to be “cool with anything” (i.e. sexual harassment, nonstop objectification, and daily humiliation).
“This town considers women to be nebulous things that can be sanded down until they resemble everyone else,” Caitlin states. To watch her stand up to the dark side of Tinseltown, check out her video above.
With warm and love,
Elisa & Lily
Thank you to Olie Biologique, a natural skincare line, for making it possible for us to share Caitlin's story. As a part of our collaboration, six strong, unapologetic individuals from the project have made their own Olie body oils based on their spirit and stories. Click here to get your oil!
