Tessa Edwards, What's Underneath
You Go to Fashion to Die & Other Lessons From a Recovering Designer

“I thought that if you’re creative with clothes then you go to the fashion industry. But you actually go there to die," states Tessa Edwards in our season finale of The What’s Underneath Project: London. The former fashion designer and current filmmaker holds nothing back about her battle with a world where cash is king and creativity is facing extinction. Through her personal struggle, Tessa reveals how fashion’s avarice has lead to a “cluster-fuck” of self-hatred. As Tessa so acutely puts it: “We’re made to feel so bad if we’re not ‘rich’ or ‘beautiful’ or ‘famous,’ What do those things even mean? Nothing.”
