When I walked into Lindsay’s cozy Brooklyn apartment her effervescent energy and exhilarating unconventionality immediately lifted me out of my stress haze. Early to the asymmetrical haircut craze, Lindsay pulls off her hairdo with a long, unapologetic braid on the right and long, choppy locks on the left. At peace with being an outsider artist who the insiders feed off of, the once shaven right side of Lindsay’s head (a style copied by the likes of Rihanna) has evolved with an obsessively unique expression that echos her singular focus to begin knitting at three years old in order to give voice to her imagination.

A hobby typically reserved for the “silver set,” Lindsay injects new meaning into yarn with a fresh clothing line owned and designed by Lindsay herself. She has cornered the cool art teacher aesthetic with knitted appliques on lavender sweatshirts, wedge boots, knitted motorcycle helmets, and colorful knitted socks peeking out of DM’s. The knit shorts are killer, especially the shaggy ones (inspired by her scientist parents) when paired with a YUCK sweater.
The naysayers blast the millenials for stupefying society by buying into the top down mentality, but thankfully, not always. Lindsay puts passion into her business, prefers using her hands to texting, buys American-made, and loathes draping herself in all black. There is hope for substance admidst the shallow blankness. If you look closely, you’ll find a rainbow of Lindsays weaving rich hues that are coming back into our lives.
