Ugo feels that guys like him are leading the way for other males who are scared to be more open to self-expression in their fashion, and I hope it’s true. I remember being so impressed with Ugo’s absolutely carefree explanation of his sequined, Michael Jackson-inspired cardigan and how it came from his mother’s closet. It struck me as especially forward and confident that a “boy who likes girls” thought nothing of digging for female clothes to wear (although I am partly loathe to adhere to any of these stereotypes of who likes whom, because if there is anything I have gotten from these interviews, it is that we are hopefully heading for a time when these labels disappear altogether). Always a “black sheep among the white ones” or “the shepherds,” as he puts it, Ugo and his best friend from high school, Quinn Aston, design a collection that is unisex and they wear it all. Ugo is a lover of the richness of historical references, like the Egyptians’ passion for jewelry, which can be seen in his chunky metal necklaces, or the classic and romantic – see his signature jodhpurs. However, he also draws from contemporary culture, like the bulletproof-inspired vest and accompanying chest shield that came from his younger brother’s love for Aerosoft guns. What touches me the most is how Ugo’s Nigerian roots have influenced him and his sensitivity to the gifts of his parents’ culture. “It’s like stepping into another world. They mostly value art, family and friendship…they accept you for who you are…they have no money, eat once or twice a day, and are happy. They are very connected.”

Great guy!
I love his style.
great interview, he seams to have so much fun with dressing and clothes in general. great attitude towards fashion as well. always nice to see ppl on here that don’t let themselves or what they do be labeled. i’ll sure keep watching him!
He is really great! His heart and priorities are truly in a positive place and I just love seeing people who embrace themselves. What is the name of his brand?
Interesting video and agreed, nice pants. Unfortunately, I think he’s mistaken about the studded vest being an original design. That is a Tripp NYC vest that’s been available in stores for over a year. In the close up still you can see the custom hardware that Tripp uses on all of their pieces, including branded zipper pulls. Maybe my eyes are tricking me?? It’s fine to display someone else’s design as unique but not to call it your own.
Hes sooo dope! love his line and his aesthetic.
looking forward to seeing him in the future.
I cant believe this guy is only 19. So inspirational and amazing. His work is astonishing and he seems so humble and down to earth. I know he is going to go extremely far. Cute too!!
Aww. Hes soo cute. I remember seeing him at industry parties in NY last year. I never knew he was so talented… Love him humility. Cool haircut too.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the pants!! where can we purchase the clothing?
What about the guy in the background? Isn’t he a part of all this? Why wasn’t he interviewed?
Thats Quinn Aston. the other half of Aston Mozie’ Id love to see him speak and do more as well. It is as if Ugo does all the work and he accepts equal credits.
I dunno who does what for the brand. but they have awesome clothes. You Go Guys!
The Blazer and riding pant look was awesome. I loved how he showed different ways to turn it from casual to formal. Very classical and modern. Great Job Styleliku!!
Quinn’s interview is coming soon.
We’ve already interviewed him, it should be up in a couple weeks!
The clothes will be up for sale by tnext Friday on AstonMozie.com.
He looks kind of like Kanye West and sounds like John Legend. Very cool style!
AMAAAZING
Hes so Cute! Love his style.
lol @ Kanye West. i do see a resemblance, though Ugo is more handsome. Great Post Elisa!
The style is awesome, Great to see a proud African with great fashion sense!
the man’s got style… wonderful interview though…
great to see some of my fellow Nigerian-Americans have great style!
Wow, this guys story is refreshing. I am also a straight male who is really into fashion, but for me, its also not about names or impressing others, but it is an art form. It is about personal style and expressing myself. I can also relate to this guy because I live in the south, and being different is thought of as weird, at least a lot more than some other places I’ve visited.
I have traveled to Tokyo on multiple occasions, and I feel like I can relate to this guy because seeing something more than just what everybody else see’s really enhances who we are as people. I think this guy is very modern in his thinking, because he knows who he is, and isn’t afraid of it, but also realizes that he is part of a world that is so multicultural and connected in every way.
