Terence Connors

 — student, photographer and filmmaker
"I think I become who I hang out with. I think I unconsciously choose it, pick up their mannerisms. I watch everything very intently." Terence Connors

Terence was raised in Paris by his mom, who had a nonchalant style, never caring to impress anyone but did, just like his own laid back but just right cool. He remembers passing by her closet, filled with lots of unusual things from the ’60′s, borrowing pieces here and there as a young kid. Today, he wears her ’80s space suit from Cape Canaveral and the classic wedding band that his father gave her before their divorce. There’s something about a guy in layers of worn paisley shirts and leather bombers, an Indian ring that his brother gave him and a charm bracelet that he made that reveals his artistic good eye and a certain kind of sentimental and tasteful touch. Being the kid that was off in high school has paid off.

Terence is a burgeoning filmmaker who has been making artsy fashion films for a skateboarding company. He likes having instruments around for their warming presence, plays the guitar and the harmonica and has been learning how to play the trumpet because of an obsession with Chet Baker. And with a similar reverence for the talents of other creative souls, he wears a jean jacket because of how handsome Willem de Kooning, who always wore one, looked in them.

Though Terence works typically masculine basics into his daily wear, most evident in the Indiana Jones hat that he wears every day, there are also atypical, unique touches that speak to his casual diversity, like his women’s psychedelic Paul Smith raincoat, black patent Acne boots, orange Lanvin shoes and the dramatic WWI French army cape. However, despite his ability to be studied without caring when it comes to his clothing, what’s most telling is that Terence would literally be willing to take it all off. He attended a nudist camp out of curiosity, where he felt like another dude in the crowd. He loved the freeing aspect of the experience, “In the city, everyone is hiding in their clothes.”
