Siena Fleming

occupation: architecture student and jewelry designer

Sienna’s tattoo reads “I Am My Own” in Russian. The richness of Sienna’s Manchurian and European heritage has given birth, in her, to an original blend of elegance meets downtown chic that is all her own. From the Parisian polish in her YSL red coat, that the designer himself made for her mother, to making the necklaces from things she finds in the street the newest in “au courant” , she is a tour de force of unorthodox and timeless. Sienna says that she has no experience with fashion, and does not care about it. Her “could care less” attitude is exactly what makes us care so much. I disagree with her bullshit comment about “I’m not really into fashion”. She obviously does care. I don’t understand why one would say he/she doesn’t care about fashion when in fact he/she does. Oh and her accent? Is it even real? She said she lived in Jersey for highschool before going to college. Shouldn’t the accent have gone away already?

well if she’s faking the accent she’s doing an excellent job haha.
and hey maybe she means she doesn’t care about fashion as in what’s popular.
    her mechanisms are cool.

It think that what she means by saying that she’s not into fashion, is that she wears whatever she feels like in the moment regardless of what might be trendy and not looking or reading about fashion/the indusrty in magazines etc. I adore her watches, and the spoon – it is so orginal and cool. This girl can propably pull off anything, and I love the way she is so aware of being her own person. Maybe she does have more money than it seems by looking at her apartment, but it is so caracteristic and special that it’s ten times greater than any high-fashion apartment will ever be.

Of course it’s easy to judge somebody who’s on display.. and I’m sure she’s aware of it.
Whether or not she has a eating disorder or identity problem is not what this is about..
Why trash her like that, this is exactly what drives someone into being fake and in denial.

I think peoples concern over how she looks is valid. If it were as easy as just looking like a bag of bones to be a fashion icon then every young girl would be anorexic, or aspire to be. Sadly, most of them do. I don’t think putting a profile up of someone who looks like this and holding them up as an ‘icon’ of some kind is very wise.
Style is about having in innate sense, something that’s not so ‘obvious’. This girl is obviously obsessed with how she looks, incredibly priveledged and quite simply no different from an Olsen twin or anyone else who is interested in fashion and can afford to spend hundreds of thousands of their family money on it.
As Galliano said “the best fashions come from the poorest people”.

i think her stance on fur is ridiculous, she can try and justify her liking fur and it not being a bad thing because she didnt order them to kill an animal but thats exactly wrong and i want everyone to know that when you purchase a real fur coat, bag, hat, scarf those companies record it and from your purchase they order MORE.
she was cool until that comment it shows me she speaks without meaning

priscilla no matter what you do fur is always going to be made into coats as long as there is a winter. and honestly, i understand the argument regarding the ethics of animal cruelty but i just cannot put that as a priority in comparison to the other myriad of ethical problems we face. stop wasting your time criticizing some girl on a style website and go volunteer somewhere.

Actually, Lindsey, learn some economics. If people stop purchasing fur, the demand for fur becomes non existant, therefore the creation of fur coats and other products will stop. Companies will not make a product that cannot be sold. They will only make whats the public is demanding. No demand equals no supply.
