"I would say that my aesthetic is dumpster chic. I like the rawness and the grittiness. I also really like elements of prettiness and just the utmost of elegance, kind of all intermingled, and I think Dollies are like that actually because they've been roughed up a bit and they've lived good lives and loved well, yet there is something really pretty about them." Maggie's Blog Metaphorical Child is "inspired by a second identity as a doll." -

Tiered Dress designed by Maggie, inspired by Tim Burton's film "Edward Scissorhands" and Edward's scissorhands roughly cutting a number of types of fabric and the application of these sheared pieces to a sculptural dress. Maggie cut up a trench coat as well as other pieces to make this dress. -

"In a lot of ways I feel like I've hit the threshold. I'm done with shopping. like I want to find special little vintage pieces and I want to make things. "I used to work in designer fashion and I was very saturated in that world and it was a great place to be but after going to London and being so inspired by the street culture there and the people and the sensibilities are so different, really style comes from within... Dolly is the true inspiration for Metaphorical Child. "She's from London, she was born at Spitfields market. She's broken her toe a few times, she's blind in her right eye, she's had a number of concussions, her right leg isn't really attached." -

"The Garden in the Girl", Maggie's design, was recently featured in an art exhibit for "The Miracle Show" in New York and chosen for the AAS Parson's Fashion Line Debut. The inspiration was derived from the landscape architecture conceptualized by hands made of scissors in the Tim Burton Film "Edward Scissorhands" -

"This is one of my most favorite things of all time" Maggie says of this Chanel charm bracelet that she shares with her mother, a nurse. "I got my diction definitely from her," Maggie says of her mom. -

“Happy” is what Maggie kept shouting out while jumping in the air in her drop dead woven Balenciaga heels. She lifts a few feet off the ground over any of her incredible finds, designer label or not. She’s getting her shopping fix in her own closet these days and is appreciating more than ever her eye for collecting her “dumpster chic” style, which she explains as raw meets pretty. “To be irreplaceable it is necessary to be different”, Maggie says, which is the kind of thinking that sends me a few feet off the ground. I have also been thinking alot about her feeling that something can be so wrong it’s right. I love the idea.
