I love the sense of humour inherent in Lauren’s style. For her, clothes represent a big playroom of fantastic textures and shapes that serve as her palette for her ever changing whims. Lauren loves to let her imagination run wild with whatever she is possessed by in the moment. For instance, right now, she is all about sequins, the chunkiest of stripper boots and Mickey Mouse, all of which she accents with her favorite colossal turquoise ring. Lauren puts it altogether in a way that is almost edible it is so over the top imaginative. She sees most garments as raw material ripe for transformation into something else: a tear, a stud, one less sleeve, clothes are her blank canvas. Soon Lauren’s talents will be for all to share. She is designing her first line of clothes, made mostly from refurbished and reimagined vintage pieces. Hopefully we won’t be required to wear the statue of liberty hat that she so covets when we run to purchase her new collection!
