I love how Kim rocks ’40s glam with a touch of punk, as she says – never too classic. Her oversized Westwood trench becomes very Kim when she adds red lipstick, clear glasses, or a very ladylike toque hat with netting. She is almost intellectual about her style and knows her references. I, for one, was ecstatic to be reminded of the seminal style of the rebel heiress and political activist Nancy Cunard, with her ivory bangles on both arms to the elbows (amazing!). You can see the influence in Kim’s adoration of huge cocktail rings mixed with harder touches like her fitted rubber jacket, and one of my favorites, a black leather corset belt that she made from a motorcycle jacket. She loves the results when there is a balance of the tensions between styles. You will never find Kim too hard or too soft in her Tripp skinny jeans mixed with her Chanel-ish vintage blouse. Kim loves the alchemy of genres, and the results are an ultra class act.
