Katia Hakko

occupation: art director and designer

I am so in love with the story that Katia tells of how Karl Lagerfeld’s mother told him to be himself with all of his eccentricities, rather than see a psychiatrist and try to fit into the norm. Her greatest inspiration is Chanel because of the dreamy world that the brand has created, a kind of heaven on earth that Katia feels she wants to swim in. She literally has a famiy of Chanel bags that each of her relatives have given her one by one for different occassions and a pair of Chanel booties with bows that she coos over, awaiting the perfect moment to put them on. Each thing that Katia wears is literally part of her tribe, whether it’s her beloved leather jacket that she chased someone through a night club to get back or the rings on her fingers inscribed with her siblings names. Her “evil eyes” are everywhere to “protect” her, but she is so strong in herself that she doesn’t need protecting.

this girl has no style. i thought u had to have unique style to be on this site. this whole video was a waste of my time. all this girl talked about was her possessions. she seems like a spoiled rich girl to me.

i liked all ur other people u interview on here for the most part, but this person embodies the type of person i hate, which is why i enjoy actual style. style is working with anything…a piece of crap and making it look cool, not showing off u own 5 chanel purses on a published website.

i don’t mean to be rude or harsh, but i’m just being honest.

a little harsh …. she doesn’t seem spoiled to me.. so what if her relatives buy her nice bags? to have style are you not allowed to have any labels? people that have money can have style too? style isnt just being thrifty.. she doesnt come across to me as some ditz who maxes out her 5 credit cards each weekend shopping up and down 5th avenue.. her style isnt like mine either but i can still take out something from what she says.. her aesthetic isnt the same as mine but i can still appreciate it and get something from her

    I totally disagree with x
She shows her personality with the way she dresses..she is simple and unique..so many people would get inspired by her. She doesnt seem like the kind of person who buys everything she sees but she chooses the items that matches her style..I loved her!

first of all, this site is about love not hate, so madame or monsieur x, please excuse yourself.

KATIA IS CLASSY, FEMININE, & SMART; HER STYLE EXUDES JUST THAT.

my impression of stylelikeu is that elisa is trying to see past the most shallow essence of fashion: which is simply what we wear on the surface; this site goes beyond that by giving shine to the most important part a person’s presence…. their PERSONALITY.
while of course it so fun to oggle over each others groovy possessions, i am glad that finally all of these cool looking people are being given a voice!
surpassing the vapidity of fashion blogging.

thank you Haley, you have it right. Katia’s long term collection of things she treasures and her use of them over time, embodies personal style.

from what i saw in the video it seemed like she was saying, that her family all gets together to buy her a chanel bag. but she does come across as very sweet & down to earth. i like how sentimental she is about her family, and how certain items represent them, esp. about the rings with her siblings name.
i know what she means about certain pieces “protecting” her, and i too get crap for wearing black, but for me it makes me happy too.
