Style is the image of character. Edward Gibbon

Emilie has that nothing to prove, ultra-enviable to us Americans mentality to dressing. I love the army/navy thermals with everything, from “old lady” sweaters to designer heels. She doesn’t think twice about wearing two different shoes at the same time and likes to mix in something “tacky” to make her style more unusual. Art and fashion are inseparable for her and you can see this in everything from the proliferation of her fantasy drawings, one of which is tattooed prominently on her leg to her adoration of Martin Margiela as a designer – “When you are at his shows, you’re really living in the moment. He’s very strong, he’s very intense. I like how we don’t know him. It reminds me that I like fashion.” She collects bags of tights in all colors that she doesn’t wear (she only wears black ones) because she loves the palette. Very cosmopolitan, Emilie was born in Beirut, Lebanon, then moved to Cairo, Egypt and then Paris when she was 6. When she was 17, she moved to London to study performance design (sets and costumes) at Central Saint-Martins. Post university studies, she went to New York to work with one of the fashion editors of French Vogue. Emilie is most inspired by free-spirited, traveler types like the infamous and complex journalist Hunter S. Thompson. Of her own styling, she says that she “loves telling stories”; she can almost “draw it before she shoots it.” Effortless in her ideas, Emilie will take the old shoelaces from her worn Converses, when the metal rings that hold them on fall off, and wear them around her neck.
