Danielle was born and raised in New Hampshire. She is a jewelry designer for her own line, Onward Into The Future, and plays drums in the band Jeffertitti's Nile alongside Jeffertitti. Jefertitti was born and raised in California and considers himself a sonic soul searcher. Danielle and Jeffertitti currently live together in Topanga Canyon, CA. Jeffertitti: "I'm from Jupiter. It's beautiful there. It can be hot, but I like heat. I was actually born in West Lake and grew up in Calabasas, California. My friends call it Cali-black-less. "When I was younger, I used to dress as crazy as possible, maybe subconsciously to get attention. I feel like there's a way that most people dress or wear their hair that's considered acceptable. "I was a dancer for a long time. There were a lot of costumes and we were always dressing up. I went to school in Philadelphia for Modern Dance at the University of the Arts and in New York at Alvin Ailey. When I was there I met all these photographers and people who were involved with fashion. I [became interested in fashion] from there. Then, I went to school at FIT for fashion design." "I was working on a clothing line before with Joey Grana, the owner of Scout. We had already worked on two full seasons and I was heavily involved. On designing her jewelry: "Most of the stuff that's bronze or silver I cast myself. I usually sculpt things out of wax and then I have someone cast them out of bronze or silver." Feather Earring by Danielle -
Danielle: "All these different vintage dealers come and sell their stuff, but Scout is the best store in LA for vintage clothes. Whenever I go there I find the most amazing, magical things." -

Danielle: "We went to Morocco and into the Sahara desert about four years ago. We went to this tiny village, which borders Algeria. It's all orange sand-dunes, it's really vast and open. There's not a lot of modern structures or buildings, just sand... We wanted to go somewhere different where we'd have a really big culture shock." On Jeffertitti: Blazer and Leggings from a friend. Jeffertitti: "All places have there magic, but I felt the most in Morocco. It felt so different from any other spot I have ever been to." -
Danielle on Morocco: "We would go out at night, walk into the sand dunes, and sit there looking at the stars. It was so relaxing and felt timeless. I've tried to keep that inside with me. I've tried to maintain that kind of peace." Danielle sewed the back print onto this Vintage Jacket -

Jeffertitti: "I've been playing music my whole life. I can play almost any instrument. I've taken lessons; I teach kids to play music, and that helps me learn. I teach them down the hill by the beach. I'm still growing up." -

Danielle: "I like being near the forest, nature, and places that aren't so psychotic. It's good for focusing on your art and the vibrations that you're feeling. If you have too many distractions I think it's harder to tap into that source and create something." -

Danielle: "With jewelry it's more abstract; it's about shapes, and what looks good on your hands or your feet. [I think] how can I make something that goes along with the structure of the body, but also represents something powerful?" -

"This tattoo is a peacock feather from a drawing by an artist named Aubrey Beardsley, he was around in the 1920s. He mainly did ink drawings." -
Danielle: "Most of the stuff that we've been wearing, we perform in. I feel like I've thought more about those clothes than what I'm wearing on a daily basis because it's more exciting." Jeffertitti: "If you're going to be on stage, you might as well put on a show in every sense." -
Danielle: "Performing is such an amazing opportunity. I feel like you get more into it if you're wearing something that connects with what you're doing." Jeffertitti says that he is from Jupiter, which I truly understand, because I often feel like I am from Mars. I also get why he and Danielle made the move from concrete to nature, because when I am making that drive up the winding, mountainous, breathtaking road to Topanga Canyon in LA, where they live, I start to feel a little bit closer to heaven too. Topanga is a refreshing throwback to the raw and organic beauty of the ’70s and it is not unusual for people to have a teepee in their back yards, like Danielle and Jeffertitti do. Danielle has that “I don’t care,” free-spirited Stones girl style that makes your head spin. She’s reminiscent of the iconic Ali McGraw (whose comfort in her clothes makes you shiver) in a ’50s turban with a vintage sequin and satin cocktail dress and mod, geometric tights. Jeffertitti, however is not so much Ali’s husband, Steve McQueen, as he is Danielle’s Braveheart, with his face paint, braided medieval long locks and beaten up shoes. Together, they make beautiful music, jewelry and clothes.
