Beatrix had me when she claimed that her greatest inspiration is the warmth of people. I have thought about it so many times since. It’s such a joyful and open way to live life, and you can see it in her glow and feel it in her presence. She is the living embodiment of style, and being in her space puts me on a high. Not only does she give attention to every detail of her apartment, cooking, painting, and writing, but more then anything, I wish I could get it together to design my own clothes like she does. Her farm in Virginia is equally as amazing. Nothing that she owns or does is without meaning. She supported a family of Tibetan monks for a year, by commissioning them to make the rug that is now in her living room, and the rug is inscribed from a page in her personal notebook! I am most obsessed with Beatrix’s long and purple-tinted, snow white hair and fantasize about my own looking like that one day.
Beatrix’s favorite designers are Comme Des Garcons, Vivienne Westwood, Azzedine Alaia, Yohji Yamamoto, Ronaldus Shamask, and Philip Treacy. She can’t live without her lipstick, and her signature’s are her rings and ankle boots. Her first book is called “My Father’s House: A Childhood in Wartime Bavaria”
Beatrix’s Favorite stores are Barney’s, Issey Miyake, Christie’s, Mood Fabrics, IF Boutique, INA, Tokyo Joe, Tokio 7, Resurrection, and Yu.
I find Beatrix absolutely mesmerizing. She is so full of life and charm. She has a wonderfully contagious spirit. She is such an inspiration and I would love to be like her someday.
She is truly captivating, a real spirit of beauty. I hope to be more like her now, and especially cannot wait to have her amazing hair when I’m older!

Fantastic, extraordinary, intriguing, flawless
[...] Beatrix, one of our original muses featured, is our first Stylelikeu editorial because she has come to symbolize the essence of the site. “In Your Body Is a Good Place to Be” is the quote on her email and in the tile on her bathroom wall, and she is clearly at 70, as comfortable in her skin as could be. When I walk down the street with her, people gawk as if she is a star. Beatrix exudes an aura that blows away all of our societal hang ups about age and indivduality. She consciously chose not to go into the fashion business, because of it’s frantic pace and penchant towards conformity. Instead she has followed her heart into the challenging, but life defining, pursuits of multi-talented artist. Beatrix has been an accomplished painter and sculptor for most of her life and at 65, decided to add book author to her resume. Her first book, My Father’s House (2006), was written when she found her father’s love letters to her mother during WWII. And Beatrix has just finished her second book on her marriage from 18 to 28 years old to an infamous, brilliant, seductive and alcaholic South American writer. She describes the cathartic and profound experience of recalling the details of her life while writing these books in the second video of her Stylelikeu post. A true free spirit and loving heart, Beatrix opened her and her husband of 40 years, Ludwig’s home and herself to us for this shoot. We are so grateful to her for her infinite grace and inspiration and for having the courage to stand on her own. var addthis_language = ‘en’; [...]

I just came out of MADD museum, I was looking at the pgm. when I got home and saw that a class by Ari Seth Cohen had just taken place…so I looked him up on his Blog and saw his association with Beatrix…the funny thing is I had just seen Beatrix in the Subway about a week ago and was taken by her captivating style and stature. I knew she had to be a style Icon. I completely respect and honor the thought and time it takes to walk in the world as ART, because I come from that same space.
I had just turned 50 and was feeling a little blue about my fading youth. Then I happened upon such a joyous photograph of Beatrix, the one where she’s wearing her emerald green turban with the beautiful matching corsage, smiling her wonderful smile, and I knew I had to find out more about her. I closely examined every picture I could find, watched the lovely video on this website, read an excerpt from My Father’s House (can’t wait to read the whole book), and now I can say without exaggeration that Beatrix has not only helped me come to terms with my age, but I’m actually looking forward to the next decennia! I’d love to thank her, she’s more than just an inspiration, she’s changed my whole life. And I think it’s so cool that she’s a Buddhist! And has the wisdom to understand and forgive those closest to her, not something everyone is capable of. Her life seems enchanted to me. Am I gushing?? Sorry! But what a classy lady.
