Fashion and clothing is never epheremal for Aureta, but rather a love affair for life. The idea that something goes in and out of style devalues the creative process, she says – one is not an artist today and then not one in three months. Like a mother or lover, Aureta breathes new life into her beloved Luis Estevez white silk dress after it was tossed aside, sitting all alone by a dumpster in LA. It is with the depths of emotion that she throws chunks of jewelry onto all of her outfits, because for her it is the best way to define herself. A ’20s gold vintage bracelet with a silver Hermès harness cuff and Eddie Borgo oversized ring releases endorphins like a good blind date and a red Alaia shoe is like the ultimate dessert, especially when worn with all white. Aureta says that she communicates with colors, shapes, sparkles, feathers and lots of studs and dreams of having cocktails with Halston like Bianca Jagger and Tina Chow did in the ’80s. “People collect paintings and coins and I collect clothes… average does not interest nor inspire me.”
