Addictions: Newport Folk Festival-Goers

We ventured to the Newport Folk Fest to talk to some of the concert-goers about their obsessions. Amidst the harmony of banjos, violins, and guitars, we were reminded that “addiction” and folk music are kindred spirits– Both are a tribute to storytelling. Whether it’s the performance of a song or the refusal to leave the house without the things we cherish, through storytelling we are able to keep precious memories, styles of the past and loved ones alive. They allow us to carry those experiences not just in our minds but on our bodies, making them ever-present and unforgettable.
